I appreciate the concern of the authorities about the waste in Cochin city. In spite of all the the media publicity and the orders of the Corporation of Cochin, I found fresh waste being dumped along the Asoka Road in Kaloor near PAN Richmonde bldg. Waste packed in big bags are dumped along a long stretch in the road, which upon exposure to the rain and sun, decay and emit very bad smell. Vehicles run over the bogs and spilling the waste all along the road, making it impossible for the pedestrians to walk. This all reflects the civic sense of the people. But how to control it. Please devise some plan so that the waste is no more dumped in the street.

People are still throwing waste filled carry bags by the side of the roads. I saw a new waste dump along the Puthiya Road and Ashoka Road in Kaloor. Kindly do something so that people may not dump their waste in the road.

It's a matter of convenience and ignorance rule that's playing out on the streets. Obviously the lack of responsibility on the corporation for so long only added to the woes. Now that a proper infrastructure is in place, it should be backed very strong judicial process. FINES to be precise. Citizen watch programs should be energized where local residents take turns to keep an eye for miscreants. Reporting of such illegal actions should be dealt with prompt judicial action and the law and the consequences of breaking them should be publicized via media. Finally consistency and persistence as opposed to a failed policy that vanishes in 2 weeks time is what will enforce process and conformance.
